Keeping your hair healthy and shinyI have learned to love my hair over the years. I used to try everything to make it look different. We've all been there, right, bad perms given by our well meaning friends. Or worse yet our moms, they promise us we"ll look just like the picture on the box right, minus the new face. Laugh with now! My hair doesn't even know how to take a perm, is that something we have to teach it? I have a slight wave to my hair naturally, lots of body they call it at the salon. Oh yeah you have great hair they say. Sure if you want to spend hours blow-drying, curling and or flat ironing it. So let me share some tips I've learned; #1. To keep your hair at its best, switch shampoos frequently. We've all heard this before right? It really does work. And try to pick the conditioner that goes with the shampoo. Recently I bought a knock-off brand, meant to work as well as the leading brand. It was a rosemary mint shampoo & conditioner. Its like an invigorating experience in your own shower, yay! #2. To keep your hair shiny, always rinse with cooler water. I've been doing this trick for years and am always complimented on my hair being so shiny. It also helps perk up your muscles after a hot shower, turn it cooler for a few minutes before you get out. #3.Try the newest product, get the trail size to save money and waste less. Recently I've tried so many promotional products at my local beauty store when they have the sales on the trial sizes. #4. Protect your hair no matter what. Protect it from the heat with heat protector before blow drying. Or flat iron spary, these work wonders. Protect your hair from the sun and especially the chlorine in the pool. Invest in a good hat. Another great product is the smooth down or anti- frizz oils. My hair is not frizzy, but I like these products because they give you a smooth finished look. #5. Try a glaze, recently I got a glaze put on my hair in a red tint, it made my hair so soft and even more shiny. The red has faded and some of my natural highlights are coming out now. I've gotten dozens of compliments, like you look fantastic, what did you do? Or I love your hair you look younger. which is wonderful to hear at any age. Are you with me? #6. Last but not least, stay out of the rutts. You know who you are, I see you everywhere. You have the same hair since the day you left high school. Come on its time for a change. Change the cut. Change the color. for Heavens sake change something. try a new salon or a new stylist at the same salon. Just please try something new. its only hair, it will grow back. Like I tell my dog Penny ( shes a Maltese) after her groomings its only two weeks before it will grow out enough for you to like it again. Then its time for another change.
