Your phone rings at 4:30 p.m. You were a half-hour away from leaving work, going home, putting your ratty PJs , pouring a glass of wine and settling down with the latest episode of Downton Abbey.

However, your boyfriend had other plans and decided to surprise you with an evening out. He’ll be at your house to pick you up at 5:30 p.m. You frantically wonder how you’ll ever manage to get ready by the time he arrives. Don’t panic! We have several time-saving tips that will transform your look from office casual to evening out in no time!

Take it Off- Did you wear a pencil skirt and blouse to work? Keep the skirt, but ditch the blouse in favor of a shoulder-baring tube top for a sleek and sexy nighttime vibe. If you feel too exposed, or worry about getting cold, drape your shoulders with a bold-colored cardigan.

Make it Short- Wearing jeans and a blazer? Trade your jeans for a flouncy mini skirt. Add some peep-toe pumps and a sparkly clutch, push up the sleeves of your blazer and you’ve got a look that says cool and fun.

Keep it Sexy- Did you wear a suit to work? Take off your button down shirt and exchange it for a sexy, lace bustier. Add a statement necklace or earrings, some high heels and you are ready to go!

Now that your outfit is taken care of, what about your makeup and hair? You might feel slightly stressed and red in the face, and your hair might not look as great as it did that morning, but don’t fret. Use these quick tricks to go from drab to fab!

Change Your Part- If you usually have a center part, change it to a side part and add a jeweled clip for extra sparkle.

Add Shimmer- If your face is a little flushed, brush on a quick coat of gold shimmer powder. This will help offset the redness.

Make a Statement: If you wore just a smidge of lip gloss to work, chances are it has long-since worn off. Apply a bold lip color, like plum or red, for a dramatic evening effect.
